St John’s Inspire Programme for Years 10 & 11: Class 4

It’s now time for Class 4, the final class of our Inspire Programme for Years 10 & 11: you’ll find the new class at the Year 11 webpage. For this final class of the year, we examine culture and history through the lens of evolution. We will begin by looking at how theories of evolution developed through history, from the ancient Greeks through theologians to Darwin, and we will consider the debate between evolution and creationism. And finally, we will investigate the evolution of cultural phenomena such as music and poetry, and how we can use these to learn about how human culture has evolved through time.

Upcoming:

  • The competition deadline is Monday, 26 April 2021: make sure you submit your competition entries by 5pm that day! You can find the submission guidelines here.
  • We will be writing to you after the last competitions close with dates and more information about this year’s Summer Schools! Our Summer Schools are now running entirely virtually for this year, and are open to all registered participants on the Inspire Programme for Years 10 & 11.

If you want to keep in touch after the final class has ended, we also post plenty of other content on our Instagram and on Inspire Digital; you can sign up for updates at the bottom of any page on the site.

We’ll see you again in the summer! If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Inspire team at inspire@sjc.ox.ac.uk.
