Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution
Dr Tom Kemp
The title of this lecture is a quote, made by Theodosius Dobzhansky in 1973. During this lecture, you will examine evidence that supports this statement. Five key aspects of life are introduced, and evolution is proposed as way to explain these aspects. You will examine evolution from its first principles, following the discoveries of the scientists that proposed these ideas as you consider; natural selection, inherited characteristics, genetic material chromosomes and DNA. Real life examples will be introduced, and you will think about how a preliminary structure is selected to become the advanced one we see today.
