3 – 4 August 2020

As previously announced, we will not be able to host the Year 11 Summer School at St John’s College this year given the ongoing public health situation. We are pleased to instead be able to host a virtual Summer School from 3-4 August, which will consist of academic taster sessions and study skills workshops. All students enrolled on the Year 11 Inspire course will be eligible to attend; you will not need to submit an application. We will be in touch again with further details soon; in the meantime keep an eye on this page for updates!

Final competition

In preparation for the virtual Summer School, we will be holding one final competition which everyone on the course is invited to enter. Considering everything you have read over the past three classes, including any competitions you entered or further reading you may have done on your own, we invite you to answer the course’s titular question: What is the power of a volcano? Your answer may not exceed 1,000 words and there are Amazon vouchers up to £50 available for the winning entries! The deadline to submit your entry is 5pm on Tuesday 30 June 2020.

Remember that everyone who enters at least one competition throughout the course will receive a certificate of participation at the end, so if you have not entered any competitions yet this is your last chance to do so!

The results of the final competition will be announced as part of the Virtual Summer School.
