The Teachers’ Residential Programme 2019 will take place during the Easter holidays and is open to teachers and education professionals working in the UK state sector.
This year’s study week will be: Sunday 7th April – Thursday 11th April 2019
The purpose of the Teachers’ Residential Programme is to allow teachers and education professionals working in UK state schools to gain an insight into life at the University of Oxford and to attend a series of presentations and workshops designed to provide helpful information on supporting prospective students throughout the application and admissions process. All teachers who attend will have the opportunity to meet members of the Admissions Office and, where possible, academics in the College working in the same subject area. A temporary University library card will be issued to each attendee, providing reading access to the College Library, and the Bodleian Library – the University’s copyright library. This will allow teachers to conduct their own research if they so wish, and there will be time designated in which to do this.
The programme will provide all attendees with single accommodation, breakfast and evening meals in St John’s College Hall. The College cannot provide parking facilities, or provide accommodation for partners or family during the programme. Participants must cover their own travel expenses to and from Oxford.
In the event of over-subscription, we will limit places to one per school or college, and will give priority to applicants according to the following criteria:
- those who have not attended a Study Week before
- those who clearly identify the benefit to their project of access to Oxford’s resources and, where relevant, the resources of St John’s College
- projects with wider impact beyond the practice of one teacher
- those with no access to another HEI’s research and study facilities
- those from schools and colleges with little previous contact with the University of Oxford
