Feel The Burn: Training Thresholds
In a class divided between theory and practice, these workshops will allow students to understand the science behind how athletes train, before curating their own exercise plans, which will be put to the test.

Workshop One: Exercising the Mind
Starting with a brainstorm of what make athletes fit, students will learn more about different types of exercise – what they are and what effect they have on the body. Using the mathematical formula provided, they will test this on real-life athletes. Then, using knowledge of resting heart rates and training thresholds, they will calculate their own targets and goals in preparation for Workshop 2.

Workshop Two: Exercising the Body
Bringing the personalised training regimes designed in workshop one, students will be getting active for this session. Splitting their training into aerobic and anaerobic exercise they will begin with a game of line ball, followed by some strength training. Reflecting on their experience, students will ask themselves how they found their curated training regime, and how it might be improved going forward – stimulating healthy practices and understanding the science behind sporting success.
