Accessibility Statement

This statement applies to the St John’s College Access and Admissions Office’s website at https://sjcinspire.com/.

How accessible this website is

We are aware that some parts of our website are not fully accessible. These include:

  • Some older PDF documents aren’t fully accessible to screen reader software
  • Older videos do not have captions
  • Known issues listed below

Some of the older PDFs on Inspire Digital do not meet accessibility standards and may not be accessible to a screen reader. The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs made available on Inspire Digital will meet accessibility standards, or will be released in tandem with an accessible version of the content.

From 1st December 2021, new videos will be subtitled, along with any archival ones that are re-released as part of new programmes. Archival videos as part of past programmes, even if they are available on the website, will not be subtitled.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances detailed in the Known Issues section below.

How we tested this website

This website is tested every 5 days. The test is carried out by Silktide monitoring software and the results are reviewed in house. Where new issues are detected, these are investigated in house.

Known Issues

WCAG AA 2.4.7 Ensure controls change appearance when they are selected

This issue occurs on the homepage’s featured content carousel. Fixing this would require access to the WordPress theme’s code.

WCAG A 1.3.1 Ensure form controls have labels

This issue occurs in the site’s footer, in the email subscription field. This is a WordPress widget, so access to the widget’s code would be needed to fix this issue.

WCAG A 1.3.1 Mark navigation as lists

This issue occurs on blog posts, which list the categories that the post is saved under. Access to the WordPress theme’s code is needed to fix this issue.

This issue appears on pages made up of a set of preview tiles, such as lists of the website’s posts, where an empty link tag is used to wrap the entire contents of each tile in a link. Access to the WordPress theme’s code is needed to fix this issue.

WCAG A 4.1.1 Fix duplicate IDs

This issue is caused by hidden input fields in a form. Access to the WordPress theme’s code is needed to fix this issue.

WCAG A 2.4.4 Avoid using the same link text for different destinations

This is caused by repeated Read More links on pages such as lists of the website’s posts. Access to the WordPress theme’s code is needed to fix this.
